From a wheelchair to walk with the aid of a robot skeleton that befell the 32-year-old Ruben de Sain from Nijmegen some ten weeks ago. For years he spent mostly sitting by his life, now he can move alone and has much less pain. That feeling he never will, but also never lost.

Exoskeleton
Ten years ago, Ruben was a spinal injury in a motorcycle accident. He was a long-time wheelchair bound, but his rehabilitation, he was elected ten weeks ago for a test. During this period, his legs are stopped at a supposedly supportive 'exoskeleton', Ruben a godsend. '' I have a lot less pain, my stomach and bladder finally have freedom again, '' he told RTL Nieuws. '' But the biggest change is that I people finally can look in the eye when I talk to them. ''
Still, it is fun but short-lived: Monday the exoskeleton must return to the rehabilitation clinic in Nijmegen. '' It's not the end of the world, but it is annoying, '' he says. '' It's very addictive to stand again after ten years. ''
Crowdfunding
Ruben hopes through a crowdfunding project to raise enough money to buy himself an exoskeleton. Unfortunately this is a big job, because the thing and its software costs 85 000 euros. Why insurers may not reimburse the skeleton? The suit has never been used before in the Netherlands and therefore relatively unknown. Nevertheless, it is still cheaper to purchase than an exoskeleton to be wheelchair bound, according to Reuben. "Paraplegic get down through the many and are often suffering from bedsores and other inconveniences. A hospital stay of one month is extremely expensive."
UNIQUE
The skeleton suits are not in the store for sale, but are delivered via one dedicated supplier to the customer. When Ruben money gathers together the company is willing to deliver the suit to him. "I hope to have the money as quickly as possible to each other, because the skeleton should be back Monday. The walk to work, that's what I miss terribly."
