For the first time in three years today meets the Egyptian parliament. In 2012, the parliament was dominated by supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood, dissolved by order of the court.

In the new parliament, the supporters of President Sisi prevail.

The agenda included the election of a president. The parliament will have two weeks to agree the time to hundreds of decisions taken by the President while the parliament was inoperative.

In 2012 the court ruled that the first free elections following the fall of President Mubarak, were not fair. The Muslim brothers booked as a great victory and gained the half of the seats.

In 2013 President Morsi was overthrown by army chief Sisi, which was then himself president. He branded the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization and placed the movement outside the law.

Low turnout

The parliamentary elections last fall attracted few people to the polls. In the second round, the turnout only 30 percent.

That no elections have been held there for three years and that Egypt at that time was no parliament, according to the authorities due to the unrest in the country.
