Immigrants should police eliminate discrimination
The Amsterdam police force has to be a better reflection of the city itself. That means more agents of immigrant origin should be adopted. Only in this way can discrimination within the police.
In 2010 still had one in three new employees to the police a non-Dutch background. Last year, after the recruitment was transferred to the national police, had only one in twenty new police staff a non-Dutch background. At the whole Amsterdam Corps is about 13 percent of the employees of non-Dutch origin, while 35 percent of the people of Amsterdam has a non-Western origin.
INDISPENSABLE
SP and Green Left believe that the City Council in Amsterdam's own experience has to offer in helping to prevent discrimination in and by the police. A more diverse police force according to the two parties is indispensable.
Since the national police does the intakes, the number of notifications of non-Western immigrants so sharply plummeted. In addition, the Government agency that specialized in diversity been whittled down. The parties want Amsterdam is going to help in the re-establishment of this Office.
GIF WITHIN CORPS
"More and more often we hear about the so-called ' poison which enters the Corps '. These are the literal words of rural police chief Baldwin ", says Peter Fifth of SP." and the best weapon against discrimination is a better diversity in the police force. Both for the carrying capacity in society and internally. It is bizarre that PvdA and VVD precisely the things that have been whittled down this should improve. Let Amsterdam than but help to rebuild it. "
Rutger Groot Wassink by green left adds: "a diverse city like Amsterdam should be a diverse police force. That is important for the support of the police among both Amsterdammers and to discrimination within the Corps and on the street in pursuit of the police work to counter ".
