Mayor Vladimir Berezjnoj of the eastern Ukrainian village of Grabovo hopes that more survivors managed to find their way to the crash site of flight MH17. "Despite all the problems here, we invite all the relatives of the victims to come here," he said Wednesday at the spot where a monument erected for disaster

"We want to do everything to help them. People here feel very saddened by this disaster, "said Berezjnoj. The life of the mayor in the past year was marked by the plane crash and the war. The inhabitants of his place were very anxious and had to be calmed.

Self shovel in hand
Berezjnoj Wednesday kept himself personally engaged in the creation of the monument. He arranges materials and established the foundation for the yet to carry granite stone is not level. If a truck has brought a load stones for the path to the stone, then he takes himself a shovel in hand.

The monument, paid for by the local population, should be finished Friday. Then a year ago that the Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 with 298 people on board in the air fell apart after the device was probably hit by a rocket-BUK.

"I do have feelings'
The mayor says that he himself is still quite upset by the disaster. "I have feelings, just like every other guy here. I have seen many dead people. I slept no more. It was terrible, "he says. Berezjnoj claims to have no direct contact with the Dutch authorities. The last time there, he says, no longer finds made in the fields near Grabovo eligible for transport to the Netherlands.
Yet the area is still littered with silent witnesses. A short walk in the woods near Grabovo immediately delivers a number of finds. There is a window of a screen from an airplane seat and probably a metal part, unmistakably derived from the Boeing.

Not only in the area of Grabovo are still things, but probably anywhere in the sprawling disaster area. There hangs down near the town Dimitrova a blue curtain of the prayer hall of the disaster airplane to a tree with the text "prayer room occupied. Also, there are pieces of aluminum, possibly of the device.
