Millions of booty robbed at jewelry store in Cannes

Four men who Tuesday raided a Cartier jewelry store in the French city of Cannes, have taken a booty worth EUR 17.5 million. That has a source close to the investigation said today, reports the channel France Info.


The four armed men raided the jewelry store next to the famous Carlton hotel in broad daylight, when two employees and a customer were in the shop. One of the perpetrators came armed and with a retirement mask inside and forced the security to let two likewise masked men. The fourth offender stood outside waiting for. 

The men irresponsibly stuffed jewellery and watches in a bag and fled as soon as possible. Their getaway car was later found burnt out completely.

It is not the first time that the jeweler was raided. 3 million in jewelry made in 2002 thieves loot in the shop and also in 2009 was the location on their targets. The value of that loot is never disclosed. The most spectacular robbery is held by Bruno Sulak, the so-called gentleman-thief, EUR 12 million in 1983 to necklaces and earrings a number of valuable prizes. 

Cannes is known for its luxurious shops full of jewelry, designer bags and haute couture.
