No additional armament NS-staff
NS-staff gets no baton or pepper spray in the fight against aggressive passengers.
That Minister has Ard van der Steur (security and justice) Wednesday in a letter to the lower House. FNV Track pleaded for more armament for the staff in april after several incidents where conductors were mistreated.
But a conductor who apply a baton or pepper spray would unintentionally also other travellers can injure, says Van der Steur. Also the violent means, according to him, can be taken away and used against the conductor or passengers.
The NS and unions have understanding for the consideration of the Minister and not to insist on armament of NS-staff, says Van der Steur.
