Every year, between 500 and 700 people diagnosed with asbestos cancer. There is still no cure for the disease, making most patients often die within a few months.
Doctors at Erasmus MC experimenting with a new method against asbestos cancer. The method is initially tested on a small group of nine patients.
Every year, between 500 and 700 people diagnosed with asbestos cancer. There is still no cure for the disease, making most patients often die within a few months.
In the patients involved in the experiment are at an earlier stage, tumor cells were cleared away. That are cultured and in such a way that they can be brought back in the body. They can own immune than help in clearing the cancer cells.
Less taxing according to the doctors the new method is less taxing than chemotherapy, in which chemicals are used to the malignant cells.
