Thijs (21) Mathews cancer, but does not give up

Thijs Steins (21) was quite taken aback when he saw the crowd at his home at the White Withweg in Breda. Around two hundred friends, colleagues and total strangers stop him Wednesday heartened by walking along the Road to Surgery.
 
  
With Conny mother and brother Rick to head he ran 3.5 kilometers through the Boeimeer in preparation for his hospitalization. Thursday he reports at the Leiden University Medical Centre and Fridays he goes under the knife, writes BN De Stem.
 
Fifth time
For the fifth time he fights against cancer. But who thinks Thijs in the towel sitting down, wrong. "I try to be as fit as possible to go into surgery, I'll be there the better," his experience.
 
It is for him the second Road to Surgery. Last year, 80 people walked along to support him symbolically, but Thijs hopes it is not tradition. "It may now sometimes stop", he says, after he already for the fifth time has been affected by cancer
